Our Community

Shipton has a very busy community with many different activities.  See below for more information about what goes on in and around our village. The Reading Room which is our village hall hosts many of the activities.

WI

Meets on the 1st Wednesday of each Month.

Knitwits

The Knitwits are a group of ladies, meeting in Shipton Reading Room from 2 - 4pm on the first Thursday of the month (from September to May). We knit - for ourselves and our families - but also for charity. We support the Hatherley Aid to Serbia, Greenfields Africa, The Special Care Baby Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital, and the Samaritan's Purse (sending shoeboxes abroad to children at Christmastime.)
We enjoy lots of merry chat over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits - and we welcome any newcomers with or without knitting skills. Currently we have members from both Shipton and Andoversford as well as some knitters who support us from home.
Please phone Angela Finch 820442 for more information.

Yoga

Join me in this weekly yoga class where we will work with a flow of postures to improve strength, flexibility and balance whilst discovering an inner calm through breathing and mindfulness. A great way to bring balance and harmony to both body and mind. No need to book, just come along. Please bring a mat (few available at the room).

We hold our popular exhibitions every three years, when we showcase our work and also raise money for charity, most recently for Help for Heroes, The Midlands Air Ambulance and the Encephalitis Society.
